Great Southern Luxe Explorer creates private and personalised journeys for guests seeking a deeper connection with the landscapes, wildlife, culture and people of the Great Southern region.
From the dramatic coastline of the Great Ocean Road and the Twelve Apostles, to the ancient forests of the Otways, the living cultural landscape of Budj Bim and the rugged grandeur of the Grampians, this is a region of extraordinary diversity.
Our journeys can be tailored entirely to your interests. Wildlife and natural landscapes, gourmet food and wine, Aboriginal culture, bushwalking and hiking, spa and wellness, forest bathing or simply discovering beautiful places at an unhurried pace — your day is designed around you. Our expertise will help you make this a journey to remember.
We offer half-day, full-day and multi-day private journeys, combining the region’s essential highlights with quieter roads, lesser-known places and opportunities to step away from the crowds. We also seek quieter, intimate accommodation services compared to large and impersonal hotels.
Upon request we can also journey beyond to sites of interest – the penguin parade at Phillip Island, the Bellarine’s food and wine scene, spa and wellness at Daylesford and the magnificent Wilsons Promontory National Park are but some examples

Your Guide
At Great Southern Luxe Explorer, our journeys are shaped by something that cannot be bought or replicated — years of experience and a deep understanding of the region.
Your guide, Matthew, has lived and worked in Victoria’s south-west for many years, with a professional background in environmental management and ecology.
Having worked across the Great Ocean Road and the surrounding region, Matthew brings a detailed understanding of its coastline, forests, wildlife, landscapes and communities.
This knowledge allows us to offer something beyond conventional sightseeing.
We believe the most memorable journeys are not simply about visiting a landmark. They are about understanding the landscape around you, discovering the stories behind the places you visit and noticing the details that are easily missed.
Our role is to reveal those places and stories, share our local knowledge and give you the freedom to experience the region at your own pace.
Our Tours
There are no large groups, fixed itineraries or rushed schedules.
Whether you are travelling as a couple, with family or with a small group of friends, your journey is private and your time is your own.
We take the time to understand what interests you and shape the day accordingly — allowing the itinerary to evolve when something catches your eye, a wildlife encounter presents itself or you simply discover a place worth lingering a little longer.

Our private tours travel in a premium Mercedes-Benz V-Class, offering a refined, spacious and comfortable environment in which to explore Victoria’s great southern region.
With generous space and a relaxed interior, the vehicle becomes your private space for the day — allowing you to travel comfortably between destinations while enjoying the scenery along the way.

Great Southern Luxe Explorer is committed to continually reducing the environmental impact of its operations and supporting the long-term environmental and cultural protection of the region.
We are working towards appropriate eco-accreditation and exploring opportunities to collaborate with local environmental organisations and Traditional Owners on initiatives that contribute to the protection and regeneration of the landscape. We also align with other service providers who embody the same philosophy and approach.
